What is Afterlife Communication? Is it Real?

Afterlife communication is the act of opening the door to the afterlife and inviting a spirit being to communicate with you; this could be family, friends, or anyone you may have known in life and with who you can create a heart-to-heart connection.

Communication with a loved one in the afterlife is a lifeline that can bring considerable comfort; it is inspiring, healing, and life-transforming.

From the beginning of time, people have experienced after-death communication. Despite significant negative conditioning about death, many cultures sacredly hold the experience of death. The healing process includes friends and family sharing their experiences with spiritual phenomena.

Since I was very young, I would spontaneously leave my body while asleep and walk around our home. Then, I discovered I could fly and walk through walls, and occasionally I’d encounter a spirit being, they looked like ordinary people to me, but I could only see them while in that state. So, I learned early on that there is an entire world that we can’t always see with our physical eyes.

When I feel the presence of a family member or friend, their presence feels the same. For example, my first husband’s mother, JC, appears with hundreds of cats around her; she was a veterinarian in life and a passionate cat lover. She also appears when I have a pet ready to pass; she arrives a few weeks before as if she is waiting to help them cross over.

So, when my husband passed, I was open to having these experiences. The first time Jon communicated, I was shocked, but I soon learned to expect the unexpected and welcome all messages.

Afterlife communication isn’t anything new, although it’s been hidden and vilified to the point where experiencers will not discuss it for fear of being persecuted. In fact, I attended a support group for widows and was surprised to hear almost 50% of the women had an experience; however, each one added a disclaimer that there was no way they would share their experience with anyone outside of the group. So, as a society, the condemnation is changing with the increase of research, and anecdotal experiences shared online and on social media; there is still a long way to go before we can openly talk about it.

After-death communication fulfills the need to understand where our loved ones are and to know they are safe. Messages such as “I am safe and happy” and “I love you” have the power to heal shattered hearts and traumatized minds.

Those implications are tremendous beyond description. My experience showed me that the death of the body and the brain are not the end of consciousness, and that human experience continues beyond the grave. More important, it continues under the gaze of a God who loves and cares about each one of us and about where the universe itself and all the beings within it are ultimately going.”

 Three Types of Afterlife Communication

There are three main types of after-death communication; spontaneous, facilitated, and requested.

Spontaneous after-death communication is the most common type of after-death communication; it involves a visitation or contact, although it was not invited or expected.

Afterlife communication comes in many forms with many types of signs and symbols:

  • Dream visitations- lucid or otherwise
  • Receiving signs and symbols
  • Hearing music or songs that were meaningful
  • Unexplained phenomena with lights, appliances, and technology
  • Communication using technology and phones
  • Hearing conversations
  • Seeing flashes of your loved one
  • Seeing lights, orbs, or streams of light
  • Feeling a touch or a breeze.

Facilitated after-death communication is a requested type of after-death communication; however, it is facilitated by a medium or psychic.

Requested visitations occur when the deceased is invited and encouraged to engage and communicate. The experiencer may employ different techniques or technology to facilitate contact.

After-death communication implies that our current societal death model is a myth, but confidence has grown in knowing that our loved ones are not dead; instead, they have transformed and live somewhere in another dimension, time, and space. We may not know exactly where that is but their messages of love, hope, and assurance lead us to believe it’s a safe place.
